Manicuring Program Description

The Manicuring Course of study is 600 hours to be completed in not less than 4 months (10 months max). Each of the following units will be covered in theory and practical instruction:

The units of study totals 600 hours as follows:

Sanitation - 75 hours - Instruction in sanitation, sterilization and hygiene.

Manicuring & Pedicuring - 200 hours - includes basic manicures, application of false nails, and advanced nail techniques.

Related Sciences - 75 hours.

Advanced Nail Technology - 200 hours.

Career Development - 50 hours.

Upon completion of the six hundred hour course, the student shall have acquired the ability and the academic knowledge to comply with the requirements of the Arkansas Board of Cosmetology. The skills and theories shall be presented in a manner that progressively teaches the students the maximum degree of technical ability as quickly as possible.

Upon completion of the course, the students shall:

  • Have acquired the skills and related knowledge to properly perform the nail beautification service.
  • Have acquired the knowledge of professional products and technical procedures.
  • Have acquired consultation abilities and practiced the art of advising the patron in the areas of nail care, services and products.
  • Improved their professional image by engaging in meaningful topics of conversation.
  • Be qualified to practice an interesting and profitable specialty in the field of manicuring.

Practical or Clinic instruction as follows:

In order to graduate and file for the State Board Exam each student must meet each of the following requirements:

  • 600 clock hours of documented legal hours of training of not less than four months as required by the State of Arkansas.
  • To be certified you must complete all school examinations with a 75% or higher score.
  • Pass the State of Arkansas test on practical and written state board.
  • Submit $30 for each of the following exams: Manicurist. You must send the money order as well as the properly completed application and your complete school student certificate of training.
